Summary/Abstract: With growing awareness of global environmental issues and increasing interests in the study of Chinese films, this text seeks expand the field of ecology and cinema towards a broader coverage in its animation aesthetic, poetic represantatio, and Daoist`s context. The full length animation “Big Fish & Begonia” (大鱼海棠, 2016, dir. Liang Xuan and Zhang Chun) is one of the best new examples of contemporary Chinese eco-animation cinema addressed to the large area of auditorium. The goal of the film analysis is to approach the filmic representation of the relationship between humans, traditional Chinese culture, and our natural environment in meaningful and creative ways.
