Summary/Abstract: In Romania, the literature in the field of applied ethics is not one of the most popular and vast. However, lately there is an increasingly serious concern of both young people for research and writing about this issue, as well as for specialists in this field. Also, bioethics is among the topics that are more and more of interest to the general public, as well as professionals specialized in ethics, possibly with studies in medical research. The present review refers to the publication at Tritonic publishing house, Bucharest, 2018, in "Ethics and integrity in education and research" (Antonio Sandu, Bogdan Popoveniuc, editors) of the work "Bioethics: history and significance", authored by university professor Ph.D. Mircea Leabu. The work "Bioethics: History and Significance" is the result of the presentation of the author’s scientific work at the International Conference "Ethics and Values in Education, Research and Innovation", Suceava, Romania, October 19-29, 2018. The paper that addresses a theme of applied ethics in the medical field presents, for the first time, ideas about professional ethics. Thus, the author introduces the reader to the reality of the existence in the history of science of "great spirits" whose characters are under question, here mentioning authors about which there have been suspicions of plagiarism of works authored by other researchers.
