Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to identify job satisfaction factors of employees working in public sector in Poland and establish how these factors relate to certain personal characteristics of the employees. To achieve the aim a survey method was adopted. Respondents were asked to evaluate the importance of job related factors in terms of their meaning for overall job satisfaction. The job satisfaction factors were compiled from existing literature and for the purpose of analysis were divided into two groups: extrinsic and intrinsic. The results provided by data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, and post hoc test. The importance of job satisfaction factors for local public administration employees in Poland was identified. Demographic factors, such as, age and gender, as well as position in an organization were found to have significant impact on the assessment of job satisfaction facets. The findings are expected to provide greater knowledge on job satisfaction among employees in Eastern European countries and constitute useful guidelines for managers.
