Summary/Abstract: Sales and Operations Planning (SOP) boils down to organizing and coordinating cooperation in the areas responsible for managing the demand and supply in the enterprise. SOP enables eliminating the negative effects of disintegration in planning and making operational decisions, which include, first of all, conflict of goals (trade off ) and reduced efficiency of operations. These conflicts and declining efficiency may appear both on the marketing and sales side (sales promotion, advertising), and on the side of operations (production, transport, storage, inventory control, logistic customer service, procurement). In the paper, the authors indicate the essence of the SOP, show its main components anddesign rules, emphasize the effects of SOP implementation. But primarily the Authors focus on the impact of SOP on the relations between supply and demand areas within the enterprise and across the supply chain.
