Summary/Abstract: The authors of the article present the problem of structural security starting from the discussion of its subject characteristics. Next, they specify the subject dimension of the subject’s personal security and present the characteristics of the political security of the state, which is a variant of structural security. They present the problems of the modern world, pointing out that they require cooperation of the entire international community, and opportunities for humanity should be seen in the possibilities of social development. They also identify socio-economic problems by stressing the occurrence of hunger and unemployment, civilization and social diseases and present civilizational and cultural problems as well as opportunities and threats resulting from scientific and technical progress as well as threats related to the destruction of the environment. Finally, they point to the threat of terrorism that is important in the modern world, highlighting its deepest causes.
