Summary/Abstract: The economic policy of the European Union aims to reduce development disparities between its regions and to stimulate the development of under performing territorial units. In contemporary research and economic debates, entrepreneurship is one of the prerequisites for initiating economic growth at both local and regional levels. This article analyses the influence of entrepreneurship on the socio-economic development of Polish counties using spatial regression models and the Central Statistical Office(GUS) statistics on 380 counties (314 rural counties and 66 urban counties). The results yielded by the econometric models confirm that entrepreneurialism stimulates the development of counties described by selected characteristics.
