Summary/Abstract: Revitalization, according to the Act adopted on 9 October 2015, is a territorially concentrated process of bringing out degraded areas from a crisis state for the benefit of the local community, space and economy, conducted in a comprehensive manner through integrated activities. It is an activity focused on reviving degraded city areas initiated by the local government. Revitalization projects have been a huge challenge for many years, bot hin the preparatory and executive phase, and effective management, particularly ensuringan adequate level of financing, is great difficulty for the local governments. It is in line with the provisions of the Act that the local self-government is also responsible for providing adequate funds. Unfortunately, due to the fact that there is a permanent lack of funds in local government units, local authorities are forced to look for alternative sources of financing this process in relation to their own resources. The aim of the article is to indicate what role the EXPO type mass events can play in there construction process of the degraded urban tissue. A research hypothesis has been put forward that the thematic mass events of the EXPO type contribute to the reconstruction of the degraded urban fabric. In the summary, it has been concluded that the organization of thematic mass events by the local government may contribute to the intensification of activities in the adopted area.
