Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to present the issues of the International Associationof Cittaslow Cities — its creation and role in the promotion and activation of small towns. The article presents the genesis of the creation and operation of the Cittaslow networkin Poland, as well as the use of this idea in the context of the promotion of cities belonging to the network in the Warmia and Masuria voivodeship. The following research methods were used: deductive studies of literature on the subject (domestic and foreign), analysis of reports and data concerning the phenomena, contained, among others, on official websites of organizations involved with the idea of slow and analysis of projects supporting the development of the Cittaslow concept in the Warmia and Masuria voivodeship. The presented considerations show that membership in the network brings potential benefits. Members, thanks to the EU funds, have the opportunity to implement a coherent development concept and broadly promote their image based on the idea of a good life, preservingthe unique local character of an urban space.
