Summary/Abstract: The paper concerns the employee awareness of on boarding in a company. The aim of this paper is to define the level of familiarity with on boarding among employees, identify their experience in this field and evaluate the significance of this process for human resource management. The aim was achieved in the course of empirical research by survey method with the use of a questionnaire. The research covered employees of several sectors. The results show that on boarding is well-known to the respondents and it is defined in a consistent and mostly proper way. The research also reveals that most respondents consider on boarding a very important process which helped them become familiar with their new working environment and achieve a high efficiency level in a short time. An additional consequence of the research is highlighting the problems related to the propriety and quality aspect of on boarding. The results and conclusions included in the paper are the basis for a further exploration of the issue.
