Summary/Abstract: The research problem raised in the article concerns the need to standardize the scope of personal data processed by transport entrepreneurs. Due to the wide range of activities of these industries – the problems were limited to the telematics used by companies. The existence of this problem was based on signals coming directly from interested parties, as well as on the analysis of internet portals. The study was attended by representatives of transport companies – managers and drivers – who implemented solutions in their companies based on the location of the fleet. The conclusions were formulated on the basis of analysis from direct interviews, critical analysis of secondary sources, issued judgments and case study analysis. The aim of the article was to demonstrate that the standardization of telematics applications in transport can be a method of protecting entrepreneurs from the consequences of non-compliance with regulations in force from 25 May. Undoubtedly, due to the wide range of transport issues –the proposed solution to the problem through standardization does not exhaust the possible other ways to achieve this goal. The results clearly confirmed that the method of protection against the effects of GDPR violations in the applied telematics solutionsmay be standardization of the scope of personal data being processed.
