Summary/Abstract: The present paper presents the benefits of engaging children into projects of creating media. Starting from the connection between media and children rights, the paper shows that promoting media literacy is essential for ensuring that children have access to their rights. However, media literacy is not a unitary concept, each perspective adding value on the way children’s access to media needs to be understood. Moreover, the paper argues that media represents a tool of empowering children, especially when children are actively involved into media production. Getting involved into media production facilitates the freedom of expression of children and gives them a voice in society. The movie produced during the Course Children and Media represents an asset in acknowledging society about children’s rights and also in teach children how to produce media, considering that it encourages them to see themselves as competent.
