Music and recent art: basic concepts and categories

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to define the primary conceptual-categorial apparatus for studying musical and song art. The methodology of the study is based on the use of general scientific methods of analysis, synthesis, concretization and art criticism. Scientific novelty is connected with the definition of critical concepts that constitute the theoretical foundations of the study of musical and song art, in particular, in Ukraine. Conclusions. The most popular genre of modern music, as well as the mid-to-late twentieth century, is the phenomenon of mass music, in particular, pop songs. The latter researchers define as a specific way of spiritual assimilation and sensual reflection of the artistic picture of the world by appropriate means of artistic creativity in the proper historical period. Among the most notable songs on the stage was and remains vocal (vocal-instrumental) miniature. It was she who developed and gained the most supporters in the 20th century and became the most popular performers in concert practice, including Ukrainian ones.
