Summary/Abstract: Purpose of the article. This study is related to the study of the genre specificity of piano bagatelles in the early stages of development, when this genre acquires a profound philosophical meaning, thereby revealing a great semantic potential. The interpretation of the luggage by L. Beethoven is considered. It is found that the bagatelle, being a kind of piano miniature – an important artistic and cultural-historical phenomenon of musical culture – absorbs its basic structural and compositional parameters and performs its function as a concentrate in the ultimately condensed, "small" form of the image of the composer's world. The methodology of the research consists in applying the historical-style and genre-stylistic method, which allows us to generalize the semantic content of all three cycles of L. Beethoven's bagatelles. The scientific novelty of the research consists in the search and disclosure of the figurative content of Beethoven's bagatelles. The very technique of analyzing all three cycles is original, which was made on four levels: syntactic, compositional, dramaturgical and genre-style. Conclusions. In the work of Beethoven, the bagatelle as a musical genre has no clearly expressed features on the syntactic level, but on the other three – the compositional, dramaturgic and genre-style levels, reveals a general pattern – the presence of three imaginary spheres – gallantly-pastoral, scherzo and lyrical-melancholic, with prevalence of the latter. These spheres are transformed throughout all three cycles, as if demonstrating the spiritual development experienced by the composer, the passage of a path from youth through "maturation" to wisdom.
