Some changes will come when the UK takes over the European Union presidency in 1992. Her Foreign Minister Douglas Hurd will make the first steps in the attempt of the Republic of Macedonia with its proposals. With the mediation of the UN SecretaryGeneral‘s special envoy, Cyrus Vance, in 1993, an agreement will be reached that will allow the Republic of Macedonia to be admitted to the UN under the provisional name of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. After admittance to the United Nations on December 16, 1993, the UK recognized the independence of Macedonia under the reference, and established full diplomatic relations. While the USA will recognize Macedonia on February 9, 1994, under the reference, and establish full diplomatic relations after the signing of the Interim Accord between Greece and R. Macedonia. The focus of this article is the development of diplomatic relations between the United States and the United Kingdom with the Republic of Macedonia during its independence until today.
