Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the profiles of ministers of military affairs, whose duty time fell on a difficult period for Polish internal politics. The author mentions and characterizes three army generals of the Polish Army. The people who occupied this post, crucial for national security were respectively: General Stefan Majewski, Lucjan Żeligowski, whose military and personal politics were subordinate to Piłsudski’s plans and Juliusz Tarnawa-Malczewski, holding his office at the time of the May Coup, during which he stood in defence of Polish government. Every minister was an important figure of „difficult times” in the history of the Second Republic of Poland and each of them tried to „properly” meet their obligations, although the latter did not take place without massive pressure of politicians who were at that time fighting for power in Poland. The article introduces the reader into the events preceding the May Coup, demonstrating the ongoing dispute between Marshal Józef Piłsudski and higher officers and generals who refused to submit to his will. The author discusses the events in a chronological order, starting with the November (1925) nomination of General S. Majewski for the minister of military affairs, to the repression against Piłsudski’s supporters vis-à-vis the representatives of ousted government.
