Summary/Abstract: This essay is concerned with the generative description of the metric norm of Czech syllabotonic verse explicated in Miroslav Červenka’s Kapitoly o českém verši (Chapters on Czech Verse, 2006). On the basis of linguistic predeterminants of the occurrences of certain rhythmic configurations, the author takes issue with some conceptual points of the generative description, and endeavours to simplify the model for a computer analysis of verse lines.
