Summary/Abstract: The article was written to commemorate the first anniversary of the signing of the Cooperation Agreement between Self-governing Bodies and Professional Associations of Lawyers. It aims to cover the evolution of the idea that underlies the Cooperation Agreement and its operations between the years 2015 and 2016. In particular, it presents the genesis of the Cooperation Agreement and the rules that govern its functioning, the positions it adopts, and the initiatives it puts forth. Subsequently, the article shifts to an analysis of the current context for the functioning of the Cooperation Agreement, including, primarily, the constitutional crisis and the bourgeoning citizens’ movement of lawyers. It also points to areas on which future efforts of the Cooperation Agreement will focus, namely the legal education of society, mediation and other forms of ADR, preventing legal and social exclusion, and establishing user-friendly and affordable judicial procedures.
