Summary/Abstract: The present study intends to present some aspects, less known, regarding the establishment of the Bessarabia Branch of States’ Archives and the evolution of the Romanian archival science in this region after the Unification in 1918. The law regarding the organisation of the States’ Archives (15th of July, 1925) provided the legal frame for administrative unification and stipulated the establishment of regional directorates of States’ Archives in Cluj, Chernivtsi and Kishinev. The bodies responsible with the transition to an unique archival practice within the new butted region were the new created States’ Archives Commissions.
