Poetical interpretation of Psalm 12 by T. Shevchenko in the modern composers “readings”: to the problem of musicalization of the sacred poetry by Kobzar

Summary/Abstract: Purpose of the article. The objective of the proposed research is to study the different genres of composer implementations of the same Shevchenko's poetry – the most popular among Ukrainian authors 12-th Psalm. Methodology. To achieve the mentioned objective, the following methods are used: genre-style, comparative (based on identification of general and individually-stylistic features of the implementation of the poetic word by comparing choral works of different genres), typological (based on systematization of studied material on general principles), literary method of versification analysis (used for detailed analysis of the versification features of the poetic source). The scientific novelty of research is because the unexplored works of modern Ukrainian composers (V. Timozhinsky, O. Imametdinova, M. Skoryk, O. Yakovchuk, L. Dichko) on the text of the Kobzar's 12th Psalm are introduced into the musicological discourse. Conclusions. T. Shevchenko's poetry collection “Psalms of David” is quite prevalent among the Ukrainian composers. Nowadays there are about twenty author's interpretations of rehashing from the T.Shevchenko's cycle, at least half of which is 12-the Psalm. Exactly this determined the choice of the object of research. On the whole, the authors carefully behave with the structure of the poetic source, but each of them chooses his approach to the musicalization of Psalm 12 (“text-musical” or “symphonic”), which is explained by genre semantics. Thus, the genre is one of the main factors forming musicalization of T. Shevchenko's sacred word.
