Prerequisites for the emergence of the bebop music style

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the study. Identify and explore the prerequisites for the emergence of the bebop music style. Methodology. The system approach is used in work, and the methods of comparison and generalization are applied. Scientific novelty. Because of the conducted research, the prerequisites of the emergence of the bebop music style were singled out for the first time in Ukrainian musicology. Conclusions. The main requirements for the emergence of the bebop music style include the transformation of jazz music during the era of big bands into a kind of mass culture, as well as racial inequality that reigned in the 30th XX century. These conditions have created the need to change the direction vector of jazz musical culture. Also, it should be noted the generality of the semantic content of the music of the style of bebop and blues, expressed in the absence of dance, as their genre basis, in concentrating on each performer separately and turning to improvisation as the central principle of musical thinking.
