Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to highlight the creative activity of the Taras Shevchenko Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus of North America as a tool of service to the national art and preservation of song tradition of the Ukrainian people. The methodology of the research comprises an analysis of historical events and a determination of its influence on the activity of the bandurist ensemble (Capella). Scientific Novelty. For the first time the activity of the Taras Shevchenko Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus of North America Is analyzed in the general context of the development of bandura ensemble performance. The focus is given on the formation and evolution of the collective, its concert and educational activity, and the uniqueness of its repertoire. Conclusions. Despite the historical difficulties in the functioning of Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus, the ensemble was constantly mastering its artistic skills and achieving a high professional performance level, making appearances on the best stages of the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe, and Ukraine. The article brings to light the founding processes and the development of the ensemble from a historical aspect, beginning with the early 20th century when the Twelfth Archeological Conference took place in Kharkiv Ukraine. The article emphasizes that the motivation and essence of the ensemble’s activity are in its national awareness and the preservation of traditional Ukrainian culture, the symbol of which is the bandura.
