Summary/Abstract: Realising the external and military policy in relation to the issue of security of the Second Polish Republic required from diplomats – besides the official procedures – an ability to establish relations with the representatives of allied countries, to build trustful relations in governmental circles, to search for politicians expressing their sympathy for Poland and come into closer relations with them, and afterwards to suggest the need to come into mutual agreements and treaties. The success of such complicated endeavours depended mostly on the cooperation between the diplomats and military secret service of the Second Republic, as well as on many other factors. However, the most important was the real attitude of the political circles of both countries towards the closer relations and loyal partnership. A good knowledge of the entirety of political, military and economical issues, especially in allied countries, was a necessary condition which could allow to fulfi l the expectations of Poland. Unit II conducted an extensive research of the situation in all countries, for only slightly different reasons than the diplomats. The main share in providing secret and sometimes quite peculiar information of all kind had the secret service posts, which were receiving their directives directly from Unit II.
