Summary/Abstract: Some mental disorders can be conceptualised as different forms of emotion regulation impairment. The structures responsible for the emotion regulation evolve during early development in relationship with primary caregiver. Severe attachment disturbances lead to implicit emotion regulation impairment and consequently to serious mental disorders. Emotion dysregulation at the same time can disrupt the interpersonal relationships including psychotherapeutic relationship. This paper presents an interconnection of attachment and emotion dysregulation as well as various means of psychotherapy in dealing with both of them.
