EMBEZZLEMENT OF FUNDS FROM THE BUDGETS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION

Summary/Abstract: The idea of criminal protection of the financial interests of the European Union emerged from the allocation of equity through the first amendment project of the Treaty of August 06th 1976 which amended the Treaties on the establishment of the European Communities, thus creating the conditions adopting common rules on the criminal protection of financial interests. Work to combat and prevent such deeds is extremely cumbersome and difficult due to the limited powers of judicial bodies, the limited competence at national borders, and due to differences of legal regulation of the facts which defraud the EU budget.
