Summary/Abstract: Grants for development and creating startups were one of the most known and one of the most popular forms of supporting entrepreneurship and promotion of self-employment in the EU Operational Programme Human Capital in the 2007-2013 programming period. The Inkubator Foundation from Lodz, which has been one of beneficiaries in the Human Capital Programme, implemented a few projects under the Measure 6.2 (Support and promotion of entrepreneurship and self-employment) and under the Sub-measure 8.1.2 (Support to adaptation and modernization processes in the region) in the years 2007-2013. Within these projects more than 400 people from Lodz region received grants to start their own businesses. The article presents the results of statistical surveys of these startups, especially concerning their survival rates after the end of the period of supervision over the projects’ beneficiaries.
