The Role of Non-profit Organizations in Region Development – the project view

Summary/Abstract: The presented article is supposed to provide an answer to the question about the role of non-profit organizations in region development. These organizations stand out as compared to other institutions with their significant independence in provision of social services, as well as autonomy of action, being a factor making it possible to respond to social needs. This contributes to the growing role of projects and results in the fact that these organizations implement an increasing part of their operations by means of projects, perceiving the goals and benefits of projects of this type in a much broader manner. The article presents a non-governmental organization operating in Lower Silesia, so as to indicate how an organization of this type may contribute to development of the region through implementation of social projects.
