Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to the study of higher military education in Ukraine and the foundations for ensuring and guaranteeing the quality of training of military specialists in higher military educational institutions. The article shows the role and significance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and systems of military education as important intellectual components of the system of security and defense of the state. The basic national and global trends in the development of military education are substantiated. The effective practical implementation should facilitate the training of military specialists capable of mastering modern forms, types of armed struggle, the use of troops, and adequately respond to the challenges of security and defense of the state
