Summary/Abstract: This paper provides a detailed description of history and theory of the Russian military music education. The origins of Russian military education go back to the Russian Empire, and its evolution initiated in the USSR and is still an ongoing process. It is stated that the Military Band Service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (Военно-оркестровая служба Министерства обороны Российской Федерации) is an individual structural unit of the Armed Forces of Russia which mission is to ensure national security of the country and to carry out combat and special training tasks. It is shown that any military band of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation can be denoted both an individual combat unit and a band crew – i.e. soft power instrument of the Russian foreign policy. In such a manner, the military music education holds its special place in the Russian military education structure.
