Summary/Abstract: Regaining the romanian citizenship by the inhabitants from the right side of Tisa, respectively from Teceu and Rahău – part of the historical Maramureş – is an esential element in the debates held between historians, constitutionalists and specialists in law and international relations. The current study analyzes constitutional law elements (Saint Germain-en-Laye Treaty, from Sepetmber 10th 1919), romanian legislation during the creation of the romanian unitary national state (Law on ratification of the peace treaty prior mentioned, from September 25th 1920 and of the Treaty on minorities, signed at Paris in December 9th 1919), current legislation on granting, regaining, withdrawing or renouncing the romanian citizenship and some decisions of courts of law and of the National Citizenship Authority, which watches over respecting Law 21/1991 on romanian national citizenship. The authors of the current article continue prior research , in trying to consolidate a niche domain – citizenship, with subsidiaries: granting, regaining, withrawing, renouncing.The current study is opening three directions to be analyzed: immediate impact on the legislation in force on citizenship, bi or multilateral relations between countries with local romanian population and Romania and the last direction, which targets a comparative analysis of the legislation concerning gaining/ loosing citizenship in different countries of the world.
