Summary/Abstract: Throughout the last several decades, the system of legal protection of children from violence in Serbia has been gradually improving, and its protection mechanisms have been harmonizing with international legal tendencies. Strategic and other documents support the systemic approach and, in conjunction with relevant regulations, represent the potential for more efficient solution of the problem of violence against children. However, adequate implementation of the existing legal norms, as well as strategic documents and plans in this field, has not yet been fully accomplished, including the continuous monitoring of the achievement of established goals and activities, which represents the major deficiency of current protection system. This paper analyzes characteristics of the development of family law and criminal law protection of children from violence, as well as the possibilities and pathways for its improvement, both in terms of normative and practical implementation of the existing solutions.
