Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to analyze the peculiarities of the versatile activity of the brilliant Galician composer, choral conductor, teacher and priest Joseph Kyshakevych, to examine his contribution to the foundation of the professional musical art of the Ukrainian people of Galicia, detailing his most important opus by genre principle. The methodology is associated with the use of the system method and comparative analysis, the results of the analysis integration to reveal the historical circumstances of the creative personality formation of the artist, his individual style and the peculiarities of artistic achievements. Scientific novelty: 1) for the first time the music-educational, pedagogical and creative aspects of composer's versatile activity were comprehensively covered; 2) a comparative approach to the coverage of the Father Joseph Kyshakevych activity on the background of other musical figures of that time was realized, as well as an attempt to distinguish him among them as the artistic figure and the genius creator of church music. Conclusions. Musician inheritance of J. Kyshakevych is represented by numerous works, which are characterized not only by the diversity of genres and forms but also by a rich figurative and emotional palette. However, it is choral music that most fully reveals his individual style, which had special features and distinguished himself prominently among the creativity of other composers. His active diversified activity Father J. Kyshakevych left a bright trace in the history of the Ukrainian musical culture of Galicia at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century and contributed to its further development.
