Summary/Abstract: The contribution is aimed at the constitutional preconditions of the full membership of the Slovak republic in the European Union. At the same time the author deals with the constitutional provisions of these prerequisites which provide for fulfilment of duties and obligations of the Slovak republic stemming from that membership. All the connected provisions are the results of the amendments to the Constitution effectuated by the constitutional statute n. 90/2001 of the Collection of laws. Further research is focused on the constitutional statute n. 397/2004 of the Collection of laws on the cooperation between the National Parliament of the Slovak republic and the Government of the Slovak republic regarding the matters of the European Union. This constitutional statute provides for consequences of the memberships in the European Union on the relationship of two constitutional organs – the parliament and the government. Finally, the author explores the quality of the constitutional provisions concerning the membership of the Slovak republic in the European Union in relation to the amendments to the primary EU law after the Lisbon Treaty.
