Summary/Abstract: Purpose of the article. This article deals with the problem of cultural property protection in occupied Crimea and uncontrolled by Ukraine territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The author analyzes the 1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property and the possibility of its application in the armed conflict in Ukraine. Facts about the violation of international treaties and conventions that are related to the protection of cultural values are analyzed. The methodology of research is based on a historical method, the analysis and synthesis. Scientific novelty of the research is that for the first time the cultural values restitution issues, which includes the investigation of cultural values in occupied Crimea and uncontrolled territories of Donetsk and Lugansk region are examined. Conclusions: the international regulation of cultural property protection turned out ineffective for the protection of cultural objects in occupied Crimea and uncontrolled territories of Donetsk and Lugansk region.
