Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to analyse and prove the role of dance television shows, in particular, "Dance Forest", in the popularisation of choreographic art in China. The methodology of the research is based on the theory of mass communications using general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, comparison, etc. Scientific novelty consists in substantiating the influence of dance TV shows on the formation of a steady interest in dances using the theoretical postulates of one of the theories of mass communication. Conclusions. "Dance Forest" is the first successful dance television program in China. The show has become one of the landmarks for the development of modern Chinese dance art, particularly on television. The main message of the show was the orientation on attracting attention to dance art by demonstrating the social equality between the celebrity and the audience, represented by ordinary people. The main concept of the show was based on the idea of equality of "stars" and ordinary people. The main means for solving this problem was the formation of mutual empathy, which made it possible to conceal the interest of spectators in dancing. Thus, the show "Dance Forest" is a classic example of the embodiment of the theory of mass communication oriented to the audience in the practice of Chinese television programs. It significantly promoted the popularisation of dance art among the general public, developed and re-reformed the dance television programs in China in the future.
