On Constructing the Language of Etiquette

Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt at constructing the language of etiquette. Etiquette behaviour should be described in terms of analytic and synthetic procedures. With this aim in view distinctive features of participants of etiquette behaviour should be established, situations involving etiquette communication should be classified and the vocabulary of etiquette items which would list the inventory of signs and the rules of their syntax should be given. The article includes examples of the analysis and synthesis of etiquette situations.
