Summary/Abstract: Genette’s notion of focalisation and its revision offered by Mieke Bal represent the terminological basis of the paper. The aim of the paper is to offer an answer to the question: What is the function of the form of modulation of a narrative text in In Times of Fading Light by Eugen Ruge. This is done through the analysis of internal focalisation in the novel.
