Summary/Abstract: For Le Clézio, otherness derives from an imaginary desire for the other one, which drives the self to look for the truth in that other person. Their encounter is therefore the result of an individual pilgrimage to achieve a profound knowledge of these Others which could not be the fruit of knowledge alone. In fact, Others will become their own narrators, subjects, not objects of speech. The one who comes to him will hold the position of narratee, observer and listener.
