Summary/Abstract: This article approaches the topic of Japanese gardensin Europe as tribute to the anniversary of Constantin Brâncuși’s day of birth. One of his pupils was Isamu Noguchi, sculptor and landscape architect. At the landscape projects advised by late Dieter Kienast I wassuggested to consult Noguchi’s landscape architecturefor the own studies. These projects were the garden ofTate gallery in London (garden realised by Dieter Kienastbut previously proposed for study at the university) andthe utopia project Paradise garden. Paradise garden isan oriental concept. In the latter research I consulted Japanese gardens in Europe (Germany in Hamburgand Karlsruhe, Monaco, Italy – the Japanese CulturalInstitute and Orto botanico, Austria – more gardensand different typologies in Vienna, Hungary andRomania) to learn the elements of these gardens as well as literature, including the analyse of these gardensoutside Japan. The gardens illustrate the typology ofthe stone garden and of the garden with lake and teehouse, of the accessible garden and the garden to look at. This research was also invited for presentation at thelaunch of the new translation of the novel „The sound of the mountain” by Yasunari Kawabata at the Japanese evenings at the Humanitas Publishers’ bookshops.
