Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to highlight D. I. Yavornytsky‘s ethnographic activity in collecting and preserving of the Ukrainian folklore. The methodology of the research is based on the application of general scientific methods: analysis – for the analysis of archival materials and epistolary, generalization – for the generalization of theoretical and practical data; comparison – to reveal general and special in historical events, deductions – to derive logical conclusions, etc. Scientific novelty. The article contains unknown and not well-known facts about the collecting and publication of D. I. Yavornitsky‘s ethnographic archive heritage. Conclusions. D. I. Yavornytsky's folklore and ethnographic materials from his personal archive were highlighted. It was made a conclusion about his active ethnographic work and great contribution to the Ukrainain history and culture.
