Summary/Abstract: It can be said that the use of poetry in the education-teaching of Islamic sciences presents a tradition in Turkish Islamic Literature. Thus for education the verse works about Islamic sciences such as sirah, hadith, fiqh, kalam and mysticism/sufism are compiled like the prose works. This situation also supply to the emergence of some verse types such as al-asma al-husna, sirah, forty hadiths, akaidname in Turkish literature. In number of known works, Turkish verse tajwids are also become a candidate among these types. In this context; the work focuses on the life of Shaykì (Shayk al-qurrÀ ÓÀfiô Meómed Efendi d. 1235 / 1819-1820), who is one of the Turkish verse tajwid authors, and his work titled “Naôm al-Ehem fi ‘İlm at-Tajwìd al-Elzem”. This work has a special importance because it continues the tradition of writing verse tajwid in Turkish and is one of the successful examples of its types. The aim of this work is to reveal the function of Turkish verse tajwid which are thought to be utilized in educational activities in specific to author-work as well as Nazm al-Ehemm's criticized text publication.
