Summary/Abstract: The purpose of research. The purpose of the article is to analyse the main forms of music creativity of Mykola Mozhovyi as the bright figure of the Ukrainian variety art of the second half of the twentieth century. Methodology. The research methodology is based on the interdisciplinary approach that has allowed the author to use of the knowledge of cultural history, musicology and art history. The following scientific methods were applied: the comparison (to reveal the peculiarities of M. Mozhovyi's creativity), the method of analysis (to determine the main forms of the composer's musical creativity), the historical method (to trace the musical evolution of the artist). Scientific Novelty. The scientific novelty of the research lies in displaying the personality of Mykola Mozhovyi, a Ukrainian composer as an embodiment of the three main trends of the Ukrainian variety art of the 20th - early 21st centuries. Conclusions. Mykola Mozhovyi's creativity includes the three stages of the development of Ukrainian variety art of the second half of the 20th - the beginning of the 21st century. From the 1970s up to the 2000s he took an active part in the development of a national pop song. During his long creative work, the composer embodied three main forms of Ukrainian variety art – a vocal and instrumental collective, solo performance and author song. The first form was embodied by M. Mozhovyi at the beginning of his career in such famous vocal-instrumental ensembles as «Berkut», «Malva» and «Magic guitars». The second one was realized in the period of the composer's work at «Ukrcontsert». The last form of his musical activity was author song. Such popular songs as «My first love», «Mother’s love» and the legendary anthem to the Ukrainian Carpathians «The land, my native land» belong to him.
