Guidelines for understanding the role of spectroscopy in forensic investigation

Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to make a brief analysis of the spectroscopic methods and to present their utility in Forensic Science. There are presented the principles by which spectroscopy works ans the main types of spectroscopy. Due to the importance of Raman spectroscopy in carrying out the forensic investigation, the final part of the paper focuses on this type of spectroscopy, presenting the techniques which allow its use in Forensic Science, as well as some actual cases in which Raman spectroscopy leads to very important results for the forensic investigation.
