Meme culture and online dating

Summary/Abstract: The big shift in the technological paradigm has brought with itself ever more dynamic processes affecting the whole socio-cultural framework as we know it. Part of this transformation are the increasingly popular online dating practices, as well as the so called meme culture. The article points out important concepts of the internet memes as a phenomenon of the digital culture and different approaches to their understanding and interpretation. And, based on a survey of Bulgarian Instagram profiles dedicated to memes, it traces how the topic of online dating is represented throughout the meme genre.
