Summary/Abstract: In the late 19th - early 20th cc. Russia, in its policy towards the Balkans, relied on one of the Balkan states, depending on the international situation. The Macedonian question was trump in that policy, since during the last decades of the 19th с it provoked animate disputes among Bulgaria, Greece and Serbia.
