Summary/Abstract: The comprehensiveness of the literary work is produced only in the social context. Over time various methods / perspectives have profiled on the text, who were interested distinctly of this aspect the most recent being socio-criticism. Its stake consists in the analysis of the modalities through which society is reflected in textual structures. In contrast to the sociology of literature, socio-criticism puts up for text review at all levels: semantic, syntactic, narrative. The difficulty of defining this discipline was conditioned by the interpretations given to it in several schools (Vincennes, Montpellier, Montréal), which varied from the approaches to linguistics to those that go beyond the literary specifics. Although it faces some difficulties in defining the subject matter and the work area, the socio-criticism proves its viability and affirms itself as a new method and a new perspective on the text along with the other known ones.
