PUBLISHING ACTIVITIES OF THE SCIENTIFIC SOCIETY IN LVIV (BASED ON THE MATERIALS OF THE FUNDS OF VASYL STEFANYK NATIONAL SCIENTIFIC LIBRARY OF UKRAINE IN LVIV)

Summary/Abstract: Purpose of Article. The paper investigates publishing activities of the Scientific Society by a comprehensive analysis of the funds of Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv. Мethodology. The following general scientific research methods were applied: 1) empirical – observation, generalization, the study of the structure and content of scientific journals; 2) theoretical – analysis, synthesis, classification and systematization of academic data; induction and deduction; 3) quantitative and qualitative analysis in the processing of the study results. Scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that: 1) publishing activities of the Scientific Society (1901 – 1939) in Lviv were researched; 2) the following scientific series were analyzed: “Archiwum naukowe”, “Archiwum Towarzystwa Naukowego”, “Studya nad historya prawa Polskiego”, “Prace naukowe”, “Prace sekcji Historyii Kultury”, “Roczniki dziejόw społecznych I gospodarczych”, “Zabytki dziejowe”, “Zabytki piśmiennictwa polskiego”, in which the leading Polish and Ukrainian scientists were published; 3) unique scientific heritage, which is kept in the funds of Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv was revealed, indicating numbers of certain editions.
