Gender equality in German Christian Democracy

Summary/Abstract: The Christian image of man stands at the heart of the Christiandemocratic political ideology of Germany: „So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; he created them male and female.” (Genesis 1:27). According to the Germany’s Christian-democrats each person has the same inalienable dignity, since men are created in the image and likeness of God. This is the fundamental Christian democratic thought, which forms the basic Christian democratic principles: freedom, solidarity and justice. Based on the Christian image of man, gender equality policy also finds its place in the principles of justice and freedom. One of the main goals of this report is to examine whether the principles of gender equality are respected from the Christian democrats in Germany and how effective they are.
