Summary/Abstract: The paper presents a method developed for the purpose of allocating land parcels to agricultural farms in a village and, at the same time, to minimize distances between a parcel and a homestead. A major component of the optimization model is the matrix of distances between land parcels and homesteads. This matrix is characterized by large dimensions. Time consuming procedures of computing a matrix of distances and of developing and solving an optimization model have been automated by computer software. Now, it is possible to use the method developed in practice. The optimization rules of rural land layout were presented on the example of a fragmented village of Filipowice situated in the vicinity of Cracow.
