Summary/Abstract: Purpose of the article is to reveal the current state of the study of female images in ballet performances of Ukrainian themes. The methodology is reflected in applying methods of analysis and synthesis for objective evaluation and systematization of the historiography of the problem. Scientific novelty consists in the systematization of scientific works on the issue through the prism of the main aspects of the study of female images in ballet performances of Ukrainian themes. Conclusions. The analysis of scientific publications makes it possible to state the absence of a comprehensive review to identify the features of choreography and performance interpretations of female images of ballets of national themes in Ukraine. The historiography of the problem can be divided roughly into groups: fundamental research on the general aspects of the development of the Ukrainian ballet theater, where attention is paid to female images (M. Zahaikevych, J. Stanishevskyi); publications directly devoted to the embodiment of female models in ballet performances of national themes (V. Zakharova, A. Merlianova etc.), among which a reasonably large group is the work on the interpretation of the "Lileia" by K. Dankechych (D. Dehtiar, Ye. Kovalenko, V. Plakhotniuk, etc.); A critical group consists of monographic studies devoted to the leading ballerinas and the place of national ballets in their repertoire (V. Zakharova, A. Kravets, J. Todoriuk).. An important direction for further consideration of the problem is the identification and systematization of the source base.
