Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article. To highlight the role of big bands as a diachronic aspect of the formation and development of jazz. Describe the subject of the article in terms of the emergence of a new type of jazz orchestra. Present the era of big-bands in the context of introducing jazz innovations into the existing tradition of musical performance. The methodology of the study is to apply the historical method and diachronic analysis. This methodological approach allows us to analyze the peculiarities of the emergence of a new type of jazz orchestra and to study its significance for jazz art. Scientific novelty. Further refinement of the innovations brought into the musical performance by D. Ellington and K. Bacey in the context of jazz orchestras and the influence of these trends on modern manners in music have been further refined. It is proved that jazz is not only a narrow phenomenon, but it is also a global cultural constellation. A new type of jazz orchestra has led to transformations, which are now perceived as due, and therefore we can state the organist of jazz in contemporary culture. Conclusions. The jazz band was explored as a phenomenon born of the 20th century, an elitist and bohemian culture of the 1920s. The Big Bands laid the specific tradition of musical performances, raising the popularity of jazz to peak heights, as today jazz and the composition of the big band influence the formation of modern groups It has been demonstrated that jazz ensembles have been able to combine classically elements with exotic, experimental and vibrant local colors. These trends will be followed in the musical life of the present, and therefore need additional research.
